Packing Advices
Small boxes are supplied for the packing of things like books, records, tapes, compact disks, dvds, tools and food.
Medium boxes are multi-purpose and are used for china and glass, ornaments, clothes, linen, toys, shoes, lamps and pictures.
Large boxes should only be used for the packing of toys, clothes, pictures, bedding (i.e. duvets) or items that do not fit into any other box.
Wardrobe cartons are for the transportation of hanging clothes only.
Hints on Self-Packing
√ If you have a set of bathroom weighing scales they are great to use while packing a box to check its weight. No box should exceed 25Kg
√ Books and records should be packed standing up, as should any open bottles such as wine, cooking oil and shampoo. Please mark these boxes with "LIQUIDS THIS WAY UP".
√ China plates should be packed on their edge, standing up - never pack plates flat in a box.
√ Bowls should be places upside down in boxes.
√ Glassware with stems, where possible, should be placed in pairs with protection between them: one facing up and the other facing down - never pack stem glasses on their side.
√ Clothes and linen should be folded and placed in boxes.
√ Lamps should have all their shades removed and packed individually.
